Now to dive into today's episode!
I know you are looking for some relief these days, which is why I'm so excited to share these 3 simple tools that are sure to lead to immediate wins for you and your adolescent.
If you practice these tools, I can assure you you will have some pretty instant pay-offs in decreasing your stress, being more present, deepening your connection with your kid, and daily living.
Take a look at today's talking points
Simple Tool #1:
-
The Waiting Game. How we spend our time while we are waiting can have a huge impact on the rest of our day. Try these practices next time you find yourself waiting. The challenge is to wait without pulling out your phone!
Simple Tool #2:
-
Resist the reprimand. Adolescents are already filled with their own self-doubt and ridicule. Don't feed the fire by reprimanding the challenging behavior or demanding an apology. Responding in a different way will give you both a communication boost that will have impactful and lasting effects
Simple Tool #3:
-
Review the day ahead the night before. By setting an expectation of what's happening the next day, it will help your middle schooler strengthen their executive function skills of managing their time and their projects. It will also give you less to manage and you can talk about what they need to achieve their goals for the day and how you might assist them.
As always, let me know how these tools work for you, and reach out to [email protected] for any insights and questions. Commit to these simple experiments and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS.
