You're not meant to live on a parenting island
Today's topic "Why the "do it all" yourself approach will always backfire (in parenting and life) hits really close to home.
As many of you know, I've been an adolescent and parent educator and worked with kids of all ages for nearly 17 years. And, I have a tween at home, so I'm living and breathing this on a personal level, too.
Last summer I was feeling a big internal squeeze. Life was nuts and I just kept piling on more things.
When life gets busy, my go-to pattern in the past was to DO more.
I've had some major realizations about this in the last year and in the episode I open up about all of it!
If you think you can handle it alone - without seeking support, release, or counsel - in one form or another you will end up realizing you're wrong. This approach will backfire in the form of a body, mind, or spirit breakdown. You may feel unsettled and not know why. You may feel deeply alone or out of alignment. Or you may start to experience unexplainable physical ailments.
Listen to the full episode to hear my story about learning to ask for help and letting go of the idea of having to "do it all". This is a major lesson for parents and middle schoolers!
