Prioritizing these years is the biggest gift
Neurological and psychological research proved that growing your connection and building these essential skills at this time is IDEAL It's like early intervention for your rising adolescent - your future leader and adult. Start early, start building trust, connection, confidence, empathy, time management, and impulse control - now while their brains are going through the 2nd largest reconstruction period of their entire lives. When neurons fire together they wire together and get stronger, so investing in this time means the neurons will be much stronger by high school, college, and young adulthood.
These are the years that are messy, yes, but they hold immense opportunities for your connection with your kid and for the skills you want them to have as they get older.
Investing in this now is a marathon, not a sprint. Know that the work you do to heal, grow, and connect now will pay off. All caps. It's not an If, it's a when.
